Key Deadlines for the 2025 Tax Season
The CRA has established specific deadlines for individuals, self-employed persons, and businesses regarding filing tax returns and making payments. Here are the most important dates to remember:
- April 30, 2025: This is the deadline for most individual taxpayers to file their income tax return and pay any balance owing for the 2024 tax year.
- June 16, 2025: This is the deadline for self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners to file their returns. However, if you owe taxes, your payment is still due by April 30, 2025, to avoid interest charges.
- March 3, 2025: The last day to contribute to your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) for the 2024 tax year, which can help reduce your taxable income.
- February 28, 2025: Employers must issue T4, T5, and other tax slips to employees and the CRA by this date.
